The Problem With Online Surveys For Money
Online sites that allow people to get paid to take surveys are quite common these days. In fact, most people know about them because they are so common. Thousand of people use these sites in the hops of making some extra money each month. Who doesn't want to make some extra money for giving their opinions in surveys? Unfortunately, the majority of these sites are more of scams than anything else. It is possible to earn some money through survey sites, but you are likely to run into plenty of problems before you actually get paid.
The majority of survey sites will pay you once you reach a certain threshold of funds in your account, which is typically $20 or more. Of course, it isn't that simple because obtaining that much money is fairly difficult and time consuming. Plenty of factors are working against your ability to earn that money and actually get paid, even if you don't realize it.
Qualifying for Surveys
For every bunch of surveys you receive, you may only qualify for some of them. Most people find that they barely qualify for any of the available surveys, which can be extremely annoying for users. It doesn't matter if you are handed 100, 000 surveys if you only qualify for 1 or 2 of them that aren't worth much of anything when it comes to payout.
The Qualification Scam
Many survey sites like to pull a trick on survey takers with the qualification scam. Unfortunately, survey sites can pull this one on unsuspecting users with almost every survey they take. You might qualify for a survey, continue to take it, and find out at the very end of the survey that you don't qualify. No, you won't get paid for taking the survey. It's a nasty trick that the sites pull that allows them to pull your answers and responses for free. Basically, you fill out the survey, and they steal your time, profits, and answers. Completed (but Pending) Surveys
Once you actually finish a survey, you may find that the survey company has put your surveys into a "pending" state, which means that you earned the money but won't get paid for 2 to 6 weeks. Of course, this will make a person quite angry. Some sites even say that the pending period is only two or three weeks, but your survey may never leave the pending state. This is one of the nastier tricks that sites pull because they can simply deem one of your surveys is filled with "fabricated answers" and close your account.
The Payout Process
The majority of survey sites require a person to receive funds via PayPal, which isn't an issue for most individuals. A major problem, however, comes to light when a person actually goes to request a payout. Annoyingly, the payout process can take 4 (usually more) weeks to go through, so you won't be seeing any of your money for at least a month. Coupled with a bunch of pending surveys, you might just want to go complain to the company, which will do nothing.
Try Complaining (I Dare You)
All of these companies offer horrible customer service. Really, I guarantee that you won't be able to even get an answer from the majority of the survey companies. Even the legitimate ones neglect their customer service lines. You probably won't get an answer from any phone number you dial. In fact, you may not even be able to find a number. In reality, you won't get a warm reception if someone actually picks up the phone, so don't even try to contact the company the majority of the time.
Your Account has been Terminated
These survey companies can terminate your account at any time for any reason. Therefore, you could somehow rack up a few hundred dollars and request a payout only to have your account deleted for "irregularities in your answers." No, you won't get any of the money you have earned, but the company will get their money and your responses. This is enraging to most survey takers and too many of them will face this problem. These companies can terminate your account at their discretion, and you can't fight it in any way whatsoever.
Basically...
95% of online survey sites that offer cash for survey takers are illegitimate scams. Truthfully, you cannot call them anything else. They use shady tactics and can steal your survey responses and hard earned money at any moment. You might be able to find a legitimate get paid to survey site, but I highly doubt it. Sadly, all of them have at least one major issue that is bound to affect the majority of survey takers and aggravate them to no end. Be careful when you sign up with a survey site. You should read online reviews and plenty of them or you'll find yourself extremely unhappy and angry with the poor companies.
